Your Local Brick-and-mortar Store for Used Books in Coldbrook

Books Galore opened on October 1st, 1991, marking its 30th anniversary in 2021. At first, we were located upstairs in the Coldbrook Centre Mall. In 1998, the store was doubled in size by expanding into the neighbouring unit. In November of 2009, we relocated downstairs near the Foodland entrance. At that time, we decided to give up on CDs, videos, and video games and devoted more space to our "bread and butter" — books.

 

After the first few years, we thought if a store could make wages plus a little extra, then with more outlets, the littles might add up to "a lot". With that in mind, we opened up a store in Upper Tantallon and then one in Elmsdale. As it turns out, if a store pays wages and loses a little, then that can add up to "a lot" too. So in the wise words of a fellow used book store owner, perhaps it was better to "run one store well than two stores poorly", and the decision to concentrate on just one location in Coldbrook was made.

 

We rarely offer cash for books since our customers are able to keep us supplied with an abundance of stock in exchange for credit which they redeem for other books. If you’ve got books you would like us to accept, get in touch with us and we’ll tell you when to stop by our store.

 

We do not take orders for books online and are strictly a “bricks-and-mortar” operation.
